Viewing Album: PRSX Hybird testing in Atlanta

The Progress Rail Service new Hybrid was testing in Atlanta,GA. It arrived on the CSX transfer job on 1/8/2009. It was used around Inman Yard (NS)on yard jobs. Then left 2/08/2009 for Roanoke,VA (NS) for more testing. This engine was built on an old GP frame in Albertville,Al. It has three Caterpillar 745hp engines. The total HP is 2200. The dynamic brake works vary good, per technician that helped build it, and it was "cut out" during testing. This engine was built in Febuary of 2008. They sent it to Star,NC to test on a short line (ACWR), then it went to PRS switching contractor at CSX's Intermodal Yard in Fairburn,GA. Toward the end of 2008. I had no luck getting a shot there. But I did get alot of good tips where it was then. From the Engineers I talked to they say "It's a good engine, and the only hybrid with an adjustabe ac/heat control in the cab, but it's to *** loud!". I agree after watching it. The Technician said the prodction units will be alot quieter.
